Let Me Spy on You: Write a Memoir. Please.

I’m so fascinated by true stories. Real people writing about themselves always intrigues me. The freedom! The bravery! The hilarity! The pain! Life in general is so enveloped with rich moments and ordinary wonder that if someone can get outside of their ego long enough to write a truly authentic tale (without telling someone else’s story in the crossfire) then I’m smitten.

Here are some of my very favorites:

Tina Fey- Bossypants. Yes.

Mindy Kaling- Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?

Haven Kimmel- Oh, Haven Kimmel, these two still take my breath away I love them so much, A Girl Named Zippy and She Finally Got Off the Couch

Amy Poehler- Yes, Please to Yes, Please, Amy.

(And here are some more which I love DEARLY and with equal passion as those above, but that would just be so many picturesyou understand…)

Anne Lammott- Traveling Mercies, Grace Eventually, and a current read Some Assembly Required…

Glennon Melton- Carry on Warrior: Thoughts on Life Unarmed

Ann Patchett- This is the Story of a Happy Marriage

Ron Hall and Denver Moore- Same Kind of Different as Me

Claire and Mia Fontaine- Come Back- G-R-I-P-P-I-N-G.

Leah Remini- Troublemaker

Jen Hatmaker- Seven and For the Love (I still want to read Interrupted).

Donald Miller- Blue Like Jazz

I have a growing list of more I hope to read immediately… but until then- I leave you with this amazing quote from Glennon Melton, creator of the blog Momastery and author of Carry on Warrior:
